AMD's most budget-friendly AM5 processor, the Ryzen 5 7400F, has been spotted in Chinese retail outlets with a price tag of 849 RMB (around $116 including taxes). This pricing indicates that the processor may be priced at approximately $100 in other markets before local taxes. The latest CPU, which was quietly introduced, boasts 6 cores and 12 threads, expanding AMD's Zen 4 processor lineup. Running at a base clock speed of 3.7 GHz and capable of boosting up to 4.7 GHz, the chip maintains a 32 MB L3 cache like its predecessors and operates at a 65 W TDP.
Unlike the previous Ryzen 5 7500F, which was only available to system builders and OEMs, the 7400F will be sold directly to consumers through regular retail channels. The processor comes with a basic AMD Wraith Stealth cooler in its retail package. It supports standard features of the AM5 platform, such as memory overclocking through AMD EXPO and CPU performance tuning via Precision Boost Overdrive. Similar to other Ryzen processors, it has unlocked multipliers for manual overclocking.
The release of the 7400F follows AMD's trend of quietly introducing new products, similar to the Ryzen 5 9600 that was unveiled during CES 2025. There was no official announcement prior to the processor's availability in stores. While early listings show the processor being sold by various Chinese retailers, its availability in other regions is uncertain. The competitive price of the 7400F could make AMD's AM5 platform more accessible to users on a budget, although buyers will still need to consider the cost of DDR5 memory and AM5 motherboards required by the platform.
