ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Review

Our review of the ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 at launch revealed that it is the most expensive custom-design graphics card, priced at $2,800 compared to the NVIDIA baseline of $2,000 (a 40% premium). Retailers are further marking up the price, with the card now selling for nearly $3,000. ASUS has now released a special edition variant called the ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC Dhahab Edition, which seems to be targeting the MENA (Middle-East and North Africa) markets.

The Dhahab Edition is a luxurious collector's item finished in gold. The word "Dhahab" means gold in Arabic, and this theme is evident in the cooler shroud, backplate, GPU retention bracket, and even the heatsink underneath. The exact material used for the gold finish is unknown, whether it is a gold-like polish or gold electroplated.

Contrasting the gold accents is a turquoise-like stone embellishment that reflects light in a blue-green tone. The design also incorporates Arabic calligraphy and motifs symbolizing strength, courage, and unity. The gold backplate features machined regional motifs representing the desert and skyscrapers.

With the regular ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC already priced at around $3,000, the sky is the limit for what ASUS could potentially ask for this exclusive collector's item.
