NVIDIA Investigating Stability Problems with RTX 50 Series GPUs
NVIDIA's latest flagship RTX 50 series "Blackwell" GPUs have been facing ongoing issues. Initially, there were reports of melting power cables, followed by stability problems, and most recently, missing ROPs. Today, NVIDIA has confirmed that they are looking into significant stability issues reported by users since the launch of the dedicated 572 driver branch.
Unlike previous generation card owners who can revert to stable drivers, RTX 50 series users are particularly affected as there are no alternative drivers available for their hardware. Problems have been reported across the entire RTX 50 lineup, including the 5090, 5080, and newly announced 5070 Ti models. Users have experienced issues such as display flickering, system failures, and even blue screen of death (BSOD) errors during normal operation.
One of the main concerns is the impact on advanced features like DLSS 4 frame generation. NVIDIA staff member Manuel has acknowledged these issues on the GeForce Forums and stated that the company is actively investigating. Initial findings suggest that the problems may go beyond driver software, potentially requiring VBIOS updates to fully resolve stability issues.
Some users have temporarily mitigated the problems by adjusting PCIe speeds or lowering monitor refresh rates, indicating possible firmware-level compatibility issues. However, these solutions are not universal for all affected users. The latest driver update (572.47) did not address the critical stability issues, disappointing many early adopters of the RTX 50 series.
