Digital Chat Station Leaks Details on New Qualcomm Chipset
Digital Chat Station (DCS), known for leaking Qualcomm pre-release information, has shared new details on the upcoming "Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2" chipset. In a recent update on their Weibo feed, they made some technological predictions. The chipset, identified as "SM8850," is said to be using a 3 nm "N3P" node process. It is expected that Qualcomm will unveil this next-generation flagship smartphone SoC in October. The current-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, which was introduced last Fall, features the "Oryon" (Phoenix) processor cores and an integrated Adreno 830 graphics solution. DCS believes that the successor will maintain a similar "2 + 6" core configuration, with two high-performance cores and six performance-tuned units. They also mentioned the possibility of an Adreno 840 iGPU.
The "Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2" chipset was also linked to rumors of "Pegasus" cores, which are speculated to be the sequel to Phoenix. Some rumors from 2024 suggested that Qualcomm's upgraded processor architecture could reach frequencies of 5.0 GHz on performance cores. In a follow-up post, DCS stated that Qualcomm's self-developed CPU architecture is now in its second generation, with a performance setting of over 380 W+. It is anticipated that the "Snapdragon 8 Elite 2" chip will achieve high scores in AnTuTu V10 benchmarks, possibly exceeding 3.8 million points, due to its use of ArmV9 architecture. DCS also theorized that the "SM8850" SoC will support ARM's Scalable Matrix Extension 1 (SME 1) and Scalable Vector Extension 2 (SVE2) instruction sets.
