PC Hardware Media Outlets Uncover Kingston Fury Renegade G5 SSD Product Family

Reports from PC hardware media outlets have revealed the existence of the Kingston Fury Renegade G5 SSD product family, which has not yet been officially announced. Promotional images and detailed specifications were obtained from the manufacturer's North American website. The product line includes three next-gen PCIe 5.0 SSD options, which are expected to be released soon in response to Samsung's recently launched 9100 PRO Series. While Samsung's SSDs are considered the fastest in the world, they come with high price tags.

W1zzard's evaluation of the $300 Samsung 9100 Pro 2 TB model highlighted the cost-performance considerations. Kingston's upcoming Fury Renegade G5 SSDs in 4 TB, 2 TB, and 1 TB capacities are expected to compete with Samsung's offerings. According to leaked specifications, the flagship model boasts read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 14,000 MB/s.

One key point of interest is the selection of Silicon Motion's SM2508 controller for the Fury Renegade G5 SSDs. This controller, known for its superior performance and low power consumption, was announced last summer. In December, a Chinese manufacturer demonstrated impressive sequential read speeds of 14.5 GB/s using this controller. At CES 2025, TechPowerUp staff previewed several commercial products featuring the SM2508 controller.

Although Kingston's accidental leak did not reveal the launch date or pricing details for the Fury Renegade G5 SSDs, it is expected that this information will be released soon through official press materials.
