Foxconn and NVIDIA to Launch Taiwan’s Largest AI Supercomputing Center by 2026
At its annual tech day in Taipei, Foxconn unveiled plans for a $1.4 billion supercomputing center, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. Scheduled to be operational in the first half of 2026, this facility will become Taiwan’s largest advanced GPU cluster. The center will leverage NVIDIA’s cutting-edge Blackwell GB300 hardware and will be managed by Foxconn’s newly established AI and cloud division, Visonbay.ai.
Alexis Bjorlin, Vice President at NVIDIA, highlighted the rapid advancements in GPU performance, noting that many organizations may find it more cost-effective to rent computing power rather than invest in building their own infrastructure. This shift is expected to drive demand for large-scale, shared AI computing resources.
Foxconn’s commitment to artificial intelligence is further underscored by its plan to invest $2-3 billion annually in AI initiatives. According to Chairman Young Liu, the company currently has the capacity to assemble approximately 1,000 AI racks each week, with production expected to increase in the coming year.
Foxconn and OpenAI Partner to Advance Data Center Hardware
In a separate development, OpenAI announced a new partnership with Foxconn to jointly develop hardware for next-generation data centers. Under this collaboration, Foxconn will design and manufacture essential components such as cabling, power systems, and other critical infrastructure equipment. While the agreement does not include specific purchase commitments, OpenAI will have early access to test and evaluate the new hardware.
This partnership builds on Foxconn’s existing collaborations with major cloud providers like Google, AWS, and Microsoft, allowing the company to receive valuable feedback on rack design and accelerate the development of new systems. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized the ongoing surge in demand for advanced AI infrastructure, noting that the next generation of AI models will require innovative server racks, advanced cooling solutions, and robust power hardware to support their computational needs.
Foxconn’s expanding role in the global AI ecosystem highlights its expertise in large-scale manufacturing and infrastructure development, positioning the company as a key player in the future of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
