AMD has officially introduced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Socket AM5 desktop processor, setting a new benchmark for high-performance computing. Positioned above the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, this processor marks a significant advancement by implementing 3D V-Cache memory on both CPU complex dies (CCDs), a feature highly anticipated by enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Zen 5 Architecture and Enhanced Cache
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is built on AMD’s latest Zen 5 microarchitecture, offering 16 cores and 32 threads for demanding multitasking and compute-intensive workloads. One of the standout features is its massive 192 MB of shared L3 cache. This includes 32 MB of on-die L3 cache and an additional 64 MB of 3D V-Cache per CCD, providing a contiguous cache pool across both dies. This architecture is designed to maximize gaming performance, allowing game threads to utilize the extensive last-level cache regardless of their CCD location.

The processor operates at a base clock of 4.30 GHz and can boost up to 5.60 GHz. While the boost clock is 100 MHz lower than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, it matches the frequencies of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. AMD has not specified if these clock speeds are consistent across both CCDs. To support its enhanced performance and overclocking capabilities, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 features an expanded TDP of 200 W—the highest ever for a Ryzen desktop processor.

AMD positions the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition as the flagship 16-core Zen 5 processor, delivering top-tier gaming performance that rivals the Ryzen 7 9850X3D.
