Polymega Announces Major Hardware Upgrade and Launches Polymega Remix Peripheral

Playmaji, the company behind the Polymega retro gaming console, has unveiled a substantial update for its flagship product line. This announcement covers a comprehensive hardware revision for the Polymega Base Unit and the upcoming release of the Polymega Remix peripheral, both designed to enhance the retro gaming experience for enthusiasts and collectors.

Redesigned Polymega Base Unit: Enhanced Performance and Features

After a challenging year marked by production setbacks, Playmaji has almost completely overhauled the internal design of the Polymega Base Unit. The new version boasts significant improvements, including an increased number of CPU cores, higher clock speeds, doubled RAM, expanded internal storage, and quieter operation compared to the original PM01 model. While detailed technical specifications have yet to be released, Playmaji states that the revised hardware is several times more powerful than its predecessor.

One of the most notable enhancements is the improved emulation performance for Nintendo 64 (N64) games, addressing a key area of interest for retro gaming fans. Customers with existing pre-orders will automatically receive the upgraded hardware at no additional cost. For those interested in securing the new Base Unit, Playmaji plans to open new pre-orders in early summer.

Introducing Polymega Remix: Flexible Game Digitization for Collectors

The Polymega Remix peripheral has completed mass production and is currently en route from the factory. Designed for retro game collectors, Remix offers Polymega’s advanced disc and cartridge digitization capabilities without requiring the full console. This USB device connects to Windows 11 PCs, laptops, or PC gaming handhelds. By launching the free Polymega App, users can digitize their physical games, CDs, and cartridges using Element Modules, which are sold separately.

Once digitized, games can be played directly through the Polymega App, providing flexibility for gaming at home or on the go. At launch, Remix will also support Intel-based Macs, with future updates planned for iOS, Android, and Apple Silicon devices. Pre-orders for Polymega Remix began on April 16 at a price of $199, with shipping scheduled for May. The Polymega App will be available as a free download from Polymega.com at the same time.

Additionally, customers can receive a 30% discount on the WC02 Universal Wireless Controller by using the code RMXWC02 at checkout when purchasing both the Remix and the controller together.
